There is a little broken fence that
lies weeping in the wind,
neither made of wood nor stone,
nor corrugated tin
It used to be so glorious,
proud for all to see,
But now it lies in mourning
for what may never be
It used to be a bigger fence,
to reach out and touch its fellow
Their hearts were intertwined,
as all good friends should be
But alas that little fence,
it only brought her sorrow
Until he crushed his friend
one day and stole her broken
dreams
So now both sides are mourning
Until their hearts are healed,
Each one hoping like the other
that some kindly soul
will mend those weeping fences
And restore the dreams they stole
